Kurátor Jaroslav Anděl připravil pro Sbírku moderního a současného umění NG tematickou výstavu, jež na mnoha příkladech doložila skrytý či zjevný život tvůrčího principu, který nevíce proslavil dvorský malíř Rudolfa II. Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Kniha a výstava se skládají ze dvou částí. Historická představuje umění spíše pokleslých žánrů, ať už se jedná o humorné obrázky ("Dvojsmyslný obraz") nebo arcimboldeskní variace anonymů, popřípadě zapomenutých umělců. Druhá část je věnována českému modernímu umění od J. Váchala, přes kubisty, J. Koláře až k umělcům surrealistické imaginace. Katalog je uveden textem kurátora a doplněn medailony umělců z pera A. Pomajzlové. Jaroslav Anděl, a curator of the NG, has for the Collection of the Modern and Contemporary Art of the National Gallery in Prague prepared a thematic exhibition, in which he, in a number of examples, documented hidden and obvious life of an inventive principle, most celebrated by the king Rudolph II´s court painter, Giuseppe Arcimboldo. The book and exhibition consist of two parts. The historical one represents rather "low" or inferior genres, whether it be the jocular pictures ("A Painting of Double Meaning ") or the arcimboldesque variation of unknown or forgotten authors. The second part is dedicated to the Czech modern art from J. Váchal, cubists, J. Kolář to the artists of surrealistic imagination. The catalogue is introduced by the curator´s text and complemented with the artists´ profiles written by A. Pomajzlová.
